Comfort Aparthotel Carcassonne

The apartment had the kitchen basics we needed, even soap and a sponge, which was handy. But we didn’t have Wi-Fi in our room, and it was a long way from reception. Since we were only staying two days, there was no cleaning to replace the toilet paper after we ran out. It’s a 30-40 minute walk to the town center and almost an hour on foot to the cité of carcassonne.

The pool was lovely, and we enjoyed the stay enough to want to come back. The rooms are a bit unusual, with a small kitchen area that even has a tiny dishwasher, but it’s useful if you’re on a budget. Getting back from the city means a walk that isn’t too far but has a pretty steep hill, and the buses stop at 7pm. Taxis aren’t expensive, though.

The place was clean and new, with excellent air conditioning and VENTILATION, plenty of parking, and everything sensibly arranged. Another hotel canceled our booking on arrival day, so our family of three had to take three single rooms here because no family rooms were left. It cost us more, but we liked everything. The only issue was the pool’s strong chlorine smell, though maybe that was related to coronavirus. Thanks, and good luck!

The staff were excellent, helpful, and informative. Our ground-floor room was spacious, with a small kitchenette containing a sink, kettle, two-ring hob, and microwave. Oddly, there was no work surface to prepare food. The room was poorly cleaned and maintained, with very grubby skirting boards. The bathroom was large, but the shower cubicle was probably the smallest I’ve ever used. The pool is very small for a hotel this size, so don’t count on using it.
