Domaine Lacoste

The food was amazing, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and beautifully presented dishes. You could tell the owners put real care and skill into every meal. They were warm, accommodating and went above and beyond to make the stay special. The whole place was spotless, especially the bedding, which was both clean and incredibly comfortable. And the view over the rolling hills was breathtaking, a serene backdrop throughout my stay. This charming bed and breakfast in the hills of southern France is a lovely place to unwind and enjoy nature. I highly recommend it for a peaceful, luxurious retreat.

The food at Domaine Lacoste was some of the best we had in France. Ian is a world-class chef, and Gladis makes wonderful desserts. We wanted to dine on Ian's specials every night, and if you're lucky, you'll get Gladis' strawberry pistachio tart. The guest rooms are charming and a little larger than a typical European hotel room, and the grounds, flowers and pool are beautiful. Hosts Ian and Gladis made the trip delightful. Domaine Lacoste is in Carsac-Aillac, close to many of the Dordogne's historic sites. Between touring days, you can rent a kayak nearby or borrow a guest bike and ride along the lovely paved path through town. We'll be back!

Ian and Gladis are friendly, polite hosts who clearly care about their guests, and they can speak English to welcome you. The building has character, the recently renovated rooms are spotless and tastefully done for a country house, and the toiletries and linen are good quality. There's also a clean pool, and it's a great base for exploring sarlat and the caves. The restaurant food was tasty, well cooked and good quality, though the portions weren't very generous. Breakfast was a bit limited, with only white bread, for example. I like a buffet so I can vary my choices, but that's harder in a cozy, small place like this.

We returned to Domaine Lacoste with the family in 2023, and it was a great pleasure again. Even our special requests for lunch were fulfilled to our complete satisfaction. Thank you, Gladis and Ian! On our 2022 stay, we loved the location and had a great time. Ian and Gladis are warm-hearted hosts who make you feel like you're visiting friends. We enjoyed the family vacation a lot, and were glad we asked for dinner, which was just perfect. The pool was fantastic, very clean, and just the right size and temperature.
