Huttopia Gorges du Verdon

The campsite's spot on the banks of the Verdon River is magnificent, easily a 10/10, and it works well for a quiet family holiday with activities, though you pay extra for them. The morning pastry pickup was frustrating, with a long queue even for items ordered the day before, and the wait for coffee was even longer. Despite the eco-friendly, natural image, that part felt lacking. There were also lots of Dutch guests, with no more than 15 French-speaking families that I noticed during my week. Still, the setting in the middle of that beautiful valley will surely delight you.

There's a bread roll service, gentle entertainment, and clean sanitary facilities at this quiet, shady campsite, surrounded by nature on the Verdon River. Pitches 23-28 open directly onto the beach. Very large caravans and motorhomes may not fit, and the narrow, winding road from Lac St. Croix is exhausting to drive.

The staff are really friendly, and the place works well for families. There's a pool, plus swimming spots right beside this beautiful stretch of the Verdon River.

After the previous Hutopia, this one was a real relief. It's run by the same organization, but the clean facilities and plenty of activities made a big difference. The hot water was especially welcome after it had been broken at the previous Hutopia. I was also pleasantly surprised by how manageable the walk to the sanitary facilities was, despite earlier reviews. And there are two swimming pools!
