Petit Hôtel Confidentiel

We came to Chambéry for our eighth anniversary, and having the number 8 room felt like fate. It was huge, modern, cozy, and luxurious. The only issue was the pretty bathroom sink: water splashed everywhere, whatever the pressure. The hotel felt like a modernized castle, with a tranquil reception and lobby, and we spent the first few minutes just saying “wow!” When we arrived, there was wine and a few treats waiting in our room, a lovely touch for our anniversary. The young woman who checked us in gave us a very warm welcome, though I’m sorry I didn’t catch her name. Charlotte was also so helpful, pleasant, and kind. We had dinner at Mademoiselle Folie one evening, when there was live music. The drinks were delicious, and the restaurant manager was incredibly sweet and patient with my broken French. Chambéry is a charming town, and choosing Petit Hotel Confidentiel was the best decision we made for our three-night anniversary trip to France. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend it.

In the historic centre of Chambery, this independent boutique hotel is a gem. It’s a handy base for exploring the quaint little streets, and the interior design is beautiful and original, with thoughtful details everywhere. We had a great breakfast too. I’d highly recommend it for a romantic stay.

I’d come back here with my husband in a heartbeat. The hotel is a hidden gem in a side street, and every detail feels carefully thought through. It has gorgeous restaurants and the owners were available and so helpful. The breakfast included with our room was generous, with charcuterie, cheese, French pastries, boiled eggs, oat lattes, and fresh juices. Our room was lovely, with a double rain shower, stone floor, and a privacy wall made of tree branches. I glimpsed another room while it was being cleaned, all black and very romantic. There’s also a private stone room with dim lighting, a pool, and a eucalyptus steam room, which each guest can book privately for 50 minutes. So relaxing and special. I’d booked tandem massages for me and my 11-year-old daughter, and the experience was beautiful, quiet, and truly relaxing. It felt like being massaged by someone who genuinely loves you. We were looking for a relaxing night in the countryside or Alps region after seeing Taylor Swift in Lyon, and picked Chambery specifically because of this hotel. I’ll say this isn’t really a kids’ hotel. I’d recommend it for a romantic few days instead. One caution: we were on a ten-day trip and wanted simple laundry done, just a washer and dryer. I sent it down without checking the price list, entirely my fault, but 200 euros for an unpressed mixed load of adult and child clothes was a lot, when at home I’d have put it all in one load. I understand they’re busy and guest laundry probably isn’t convenient. Lovely hotel, lovely town, lovely people. Don’t hesitate to book.
