The breakfast was huge, with so much choice that it could have fed an army. They even supplied a heavy stainless steel tray for carrying plates and cups, a charming old-fashioned touch I mostly associate with British films. The evening cocktails were memorable too. Staff were professional and efficient, though their manner felt quite formal and reserved. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We visited in fall 2022 and stayed in what I think was a junior suite. It was very spacious and comfortable for two. The hotel is directly across from the train station, and the walk uphill to Chartres Cathedral took us about 25 minutes because we're slow walkers. Chartres has plenty of hills and cobblestones, so be ready for the climb. I saw a French woman trip on the cobbles while looking at the views, which alarmed her companions. The city itself is stunning, even better than the photos, and felt safe. It's clean, beautifully landscaped, and still has some old half-timbered houses. There was a farmer's market during our visit. Fall is rainy there, so bring an umbrella. I highly recommend the hotel for its location and comfortable rooms.
