Colmar Hotel

The breakfast was spot on ❤️ and the staff were excellent. There’s free parking, too. The room felt a bit tight: my friend and I chose twin beds but nearly ended up sleeping in one. The sliding bathroom door was smoked glass 😒. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the centre 👍

We slept really well, thanks to the very comfortable bed and pillows, and enjoyed our stay enough that we’d love to return. The room was spotless, nicely decorated and had lots of useful extras, from shampoo and creams to a manicure kit, shower cap, shoe brush and comb. There was also a free minibar and coffee machine. The hotel is cozy, with a thoughtful interior, and the staff were friendly from the start. At reception, there’s lemon water and candy, a small touch that felt welcoming. Breakfast was a highlight: the coffee was made to order, and both that and the freshly squeezed juices were included. Everything tasted fresh and high quality, and the breakfast room was relaxed and cozy. A few things could be better. The toilet paper was only two-ply, which seemed a little off for a hotel of this standard. The shower had no door, so water splashed across the bathroom, and the pressure could have been stronger. There wasn’t much room to store personal things in either the bathroom or bedroom. The location was handy, just minutes from the train station and around 10-15 minutes on foot to the old town.

The breakfast was good, and if you get there early enough, you can park right in front. But I wouldn’t suggest this place to anyone sensitive to noise. The issue wasn’t the location: the rooms are described as soundproof, but they weren’t. I asked to switch rooms and was turned down, which has never happened to me despite staying in hotels often. It also wasn’t very clean.

Colmar is almost unbelievably beautiful, and the Colmar Hotel made a great base for seeing it. It’s only three blocks from the train station, with an elevator and good air conditioning. The modern room had a really nice bath. The breakfast buffet was amazing, with all kinds of bread, cheese, meat, yogurt, granola, fruit juice and delicious coffee. At 30 euros, it would still have felt worth it.
