We spent mid September at Gites de Combarel as a couple. The days were still very warm, though the nights had started to cool down. La Grangette was clean and nicely restored, with modern comforts like a good kitchen, bathroom, and plenty of utensils. Its thick walls kept the heat out, so it stayed comfortable indoors. The countryside around Combarel is peaceful, with woods and meadows nearby. There are sunny spots and plenty of shade under the trees, plus a well-kept pool. We liked sitting on the patio at dusk and watching deer pass by. The owners greeted us warmly and showed us around. Figeac is nearby, and the supermarket is about 15 minutes away by car. Gouffre de Padirac, Saint Cirque Lapopie, Cahors, and Castelnau-Bretenoux are all within an hour's drive. You do need a car to reach the gîtes, and they're about one and a half km from the main road on a small lane. Wifi was patchy inside but good enough outside and by the pool. We didn't need much of it there anyway. We'd likely stay at Gites de Combarel again if we're back in the area.

We spent three weeks in the Combarel cottages with our baby, and leaving was the only thing we regretted. Martine, Daniel, and Arnaud were so warm and attentive, and you can tell how much they care about looking after and renovating the property. We even came away with a few ideas of our own. Le Cantou had everything we needed while keeping its old-fashioned charm and lovely stonework. The setting was a wonderful surprise: quiet and tucked away, but still close enough to shops and places to visit. There are also lovely walks straight from the cottage. It was exactly the sort of place we wanted for a proper recharge.

We had a great four days in La Grangette. Such a lovely setting, and the hosts made us feel very welcome.

The warm welcome made our stay, and this gîte is a perfect spot for a relaxing break. I'd happily recommend it.

The owners were so friendly and welcoming. The cottage is beautifully renovated, and the place itself is really pretty.
