Resort LOU CALEN

Lou Calen came through for my family when an Airbnb booking was suddenly cancelled during our wedding trip to Provence. The staff quickly found a solution for everyone, and I’m incredibly grateful for their help on our special day. We also had our welcome drinks there, enjoyed the pool and beautiful grounds, and were upgraded during a pleasant stay. The location was perfect. I never usually write hotel reviews, but we can’t wait to come back. Thank you, Lou Calen.

We had trouble sleeping in room 100 because noise from the bar terrace carried in at night, and the windows didn’t block it. Aside from that, the hotel was calm and quiet, with friendly, professional staff, lovely decor, and a secret garden full of surprises. It’s a great base for a trip around Provence. We’ll definitely come again.

Le Bistro served us an excellent meal at a reasonable price, even though the secret garden was closed for the season. The hotel sits right in the center of this charming village, and we left our car in its lot for our entire stay. The staff worked hard and were helpful, and we felt warmly welcomed and pampered. The hotel itself was lovely, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable.

We were in the Mico Hamlet section for a long weekend while attending a wedding in Cotignac. The grounds have a lovely, eclectic rural feel, and the location and look of the hotel were a real plus. The air conditioning, though, sat at floor level and didn’t cool the room well during the hot summer days. I had to insist before a fan was brought up. Breakfast was basic, so I’d skip it and try one of Cotignac’s many restaurants. The reception team did arrange birthday balloons and a cake and helped book taxis, but support tended to come only after we asked. It didn’t feel especially warm or proactive. Housekeeping was the bigger letdown: the bed was made each day, but towels weren’t replaced and the room wasn’t properly cleaned. Cobwebs, dirty cutlery, plates and glasses were left behind, which felt unhygienic. The bed linen and bathroom towels also weren’t changed on the schedule we were given. For the premium price, the service and attention to detail weren’t enough, so it didn’t feel like good value. A few changes could make this a truly exceptional place to stay.
