Chateau Des Avenieres

The views are hard to beat, and the hotel looked even better in person than it did in the photos. We stayed for two nights in December and had a magical time. Everything in the room felt high quality. One of the best stays we've had.

The staff were friendly and efficient, and the Alpine views from our junior suite were fabulous during our four days here over Christmas. The food was excellent, too. There is a bar, but it never seemed to be open or staffed. It would have been nice to have an aperitif before dinner. Instead, we were offered one only after sitting at the table, and the meal arrived so quickly after the drinks that there was no time to enjoy them. An open bar could make things more sociable for guests. Still, a great place to visit with family or friends.

A lovely mountain view from the windows, and Geneva is only a short distance away. The castle has been renovated beautifully, with everything feeling high quality while still warm and cozy.

The team at Château des Avenières made the stay feel personal, with warm, discreet service and attention to small details. The estate itself is striking, reached by a tree-lined drive to an elegant château in golden light. We stayed in the Family Suite in the “Squirrel’s House.” The bed, linens and furnishings were top quality, and the spacious bathroom had immaculate finishes. The shared lounges pair old-world charm with subtle modern touches, and are lovely for relaxing by the fire or looking out toward Mont-Blanc from the terrace. At M restaurant, the food was beautifully presented, with subtle flavors and local ingredients. Service in the dining room was polished without feeling stiff. Breakfast came on delicate tableware with a generous range of sweet and savory choices. This was much more than a place to sleep, it felt elegant and deeply welcoming.
