Mama Shelter Dijon

We always enjoy staying at this hotel. Its location in central Dijon is perfect, and the team have been so helpful with service and excellent local tips. The design is great, and having a cinema in a hotel is pretty cool and different. Thanks again for a wonderful stay. All the best.

Restaurant review only. We went on the Sunday after Christmas as a family of four. The atmosphere was lively but not too noisy, with no DJ or live music. Service was great, despite many reviews saying otherwise, though maybe we were lucky or things have improved. The food wasn't enough to make us come back, except for the profiterole dessert, which was amazing, not too sweet, and full of flavor in each part. The steak and chicken salad were good, though the salad cost too much for what it was. The half-chicken dish needed another half hour in the oven and was completely unseasoned, very bland. The baked Camembert was nice and the salad was well dressed, but the bread was fried, and we thought fresh bread would have been much better. There wasn't enough bread with it either.

On our second stay at Mama Shelter Dijon, the room had brown stains on the carpet. We told reception and got a drink voucher, which we appreciated, but there was no other room available and the stains stayed. The room was very cold, especially the bathroom, which had no heating. Since it was above the entrance, we also had nightclub-level noise until 4am and had to call reception again. When we left, a very kind young gentleman said they'd get in touch and make sure we got a better room next time. Weeks later, we'd followed up ourselves and heard nothing. The stylish brand and warm promises felt rather cold this time. A disappointing stay and lack of follow-up.

The rooms are simple but nicely designed, with a cozy, modern feel, and pets are welcome, which is a big plus. The restaurant serves an excellent breakfast buffet and is also a good place for dinner. Mama Dijon had only just opened when we visited, and it already made a good impression. It's a stylish, modern hotel in a convenient spot for exploring Dijon and the surrounding region, with parking available nearby and all the major sights within walking distance.
