Best Of Both

The rooms have been newly renovated and are excellent. The front desk staff were great, helpful, and polite, and the food was very good at both breakfast and lunch. Excellent location and service.

My wife and I had dinner at the restaurant in Hôtel Best of Both in Divonne Les Bains. The food was full of flavor, made with fresh-tasting ingredients, and carefully prepared. We liked the varied menu, with its mix of French and international dishes, and the presentation looked elegant without being overdone. The service also made the evening. The staff were professional, warm, and attentive without hovering, and checked that everything was to our liking. The hotel has been recently renovated, and the restaurant feels fresh and thoughtfully designed, with a modern, stylish look that still feels relaxed. It was a lovely part of our visit to Divonne, and we’ll return.

I was robbed in my room, and my bags were opened and ripped apart, with money taken. I have never felt so unsafe or disrespected at a hotel. There was no security guard on any night, and, as I saw it, cameras were only at reception and in the restaurant, with no security around rooms, hallways, or stairs. The manager said during my stay that there were no cameras in those areas. He initially did not want to check the cameras, saying he would not find anything because they only covered the lobby. He delayed checking the room key access history and never checked it. There was no check of room access. The manager also claimed there was no proof anything had been stolen and said he should not be responsible. Management was dismissive and rude, showed no concern, and did nothing to resolve the situation. They later described refunding my unused nights, but is a guest supposed to pay for the rest of a stay at a hotel where they were robbed? The room was changed once, and the air conditioning was not working. The manager refused to remove the lock again, saying it would damage the door, and I was not offered another room. The service was below one star, and the way staff are treated showed when they served other clients. I’m sharing this so future guests can make an informed decision.

The food was simply excellent, and the staff were so friendly, kind, and helpful. We went for lunch as three people, curious because the place had just opened. The decor is chic but still cosy, with a lovely view of the trees and lake. The only problem was the music. It didn’t fit the lovely atmosphere at all, and wasn’t right for a relaxed lunch or dinner. It sounded more like jogging music, or maybe something for aperitif time. I hope they’ll consider some light, classy jazz in the background, like at other restaurants and hotels of this level.
