Hotel le Beffroi

The host is super friendly, the breakfast is good, and the coffee is excellent. I stayed for 10 days and would definitely recommend the hotel. It's very quiet at night, so even without air conditioning you can open the windows for fresh air. Everything was spotlessly clean. The shower could be better, though, since it wouldn't stay firmly in its holder.

Madame Debussey was a gracious, welcoming host, and everyone was helpful. We stayed 12 nights in Dreux and found the hotel quiet and very comfortable. We enjoyed the hotel and the bar next door each day, and the breakfast and food were lovely. The location is another plus, with the train and bus stations nearby. We recommend staying here.

The owner takes personal care of every detail, making this feel more like a second home than a hotel. It's right in the center and close to everything, yet wonderfully quiet. Our clean room had a good bed and shower. Breakfast was nice, with very good coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice, and there's a bar-cocktail bar to enjoy as well. A blissful stay, and we'd gladly return.

Corinne was running both the hotel and the bar next door by herself when we visited, and her warm, helpful service made the stay special. Nothing was too much trouble, including carrying our bags up to the room. We stayed at the back, overlooking the river, and woke to ducks. Rooms facing the front look over the old town's bell tower square, which is more round than square, with a carousel and outdoor bar seating. The rooms aren't huge, but they're tastefully decorated. Breakfast was excellent, and Corinne can make an omelette or eggs poached, fried, or boiled if you like. The location is charming, right in the center. Finding the hotel and the underground car park beneath the square can be difficult. We arrived during the annual Rentrée des Associations, when 110 schools, cultural groups, sports clubs, and trainers set up tents around town to show what they offer children returning to school. Streets were closed and crowds filled the area, and we never found the Métézeau car park. We try different places each year on our way to and from the Auverne, and Hotel Le Beffroi has made our favourites list.
