Au Remp'Arts

Elne is a really lovely town, which is about the only good thing I can say about this place now. We came for lunch and were surprised by how limited the menu was. We'd eaten here before, and the food quality has fallen a lot since our last visit. It costs too much for what it is, and the wait was very long. You might as well buy groceries and cook for yourself. Sad to see a restaurant that used to be good fall this far.

The Banoffee is formidable, and the rest of the food was delicious too. They handled GF (Sans gluten) very well, and the staff were genuinely friendly. Both the indoor and outdoor dining areas are pleasant, and it's family friendly. Easy to recommend if you enjoy good food.

That generous salad was what finally made me write this review. My wife chose one from the fixed menu, and it was delicious and large enough to be a meal on its own, like the salads we’re used to in the United States. The charcuterie selection was lovely as well. When I asked about one of the items, the server gave me the supplier’s card, one of several little touches that made the service feel above and beyond. We had an excellent meal at a good fixed-menu price. France is full of dining gems, and this restaurant is another one. Elne is a great town to visit, and we’ll certainly come back here when we return.

The busy little place was pleasant enough, but fairly basic. We’d expected more since it’s the top-rated restaurant in Elne. Both mains were a bit overcooked: the Gambas were tough, and the guinea fowl slightly dry. Nothing awful, but at the same price as the other Elne restaurant, and with one fewer course, it left us disappointed compared with that meal.
