The owner was friendly and the place is near the center, but hygiene was lacking throughout. I'd rather pay a little extra to stay somewhere more suitable. I don't know whether health inspectors ever visit.

The first-floor rooms were fine, but the second floor was shameful, just an unfinished attic with no cleanliness at all. This was the worst place we've stayed as pilgrims. They charged €25 for a cot raised off the floor on wooden blocks. I attached a video because the place is nothing like reality. I can't even describe how disastrous the Galerie Andy Bleu hostel in Espellete is. Absolutely terrible, not recommended.

We paid €65 a night for a room with a metal bunk bed, and this place really doesn't feel like a bed and breakfast. The shared areas were dirty or smelled bad, apart from the gallery where Andy exhibits his work. Breakfast was probably the most meager in the Basque Country. We felt like we were a nuisance, and the host mostly asked, “How are you going to pay? When are you going to pay me?” We even found a urine-soaked cloth under the bathroom sink. Avoid it.

This place feels truly unique, and the owner is someone worth getting to know. He's very helpful and incredibly kind. If a 5-star stay is what you're after, this isn't for you. But simple places and small things can feel priceless when you share the same experiences.

Andy welcomes you into his gallery, and the place is worth discovering for that alone. The sea is his element, and his work reflects it with the soul of a kind man 🙏
