We'd happily come back. It's a quaint place, a short drive outside town, and well worth going a little farther. The owner was very helpful, and breakfast was good.

For anyone wanting a special luxury getaway, Monte Carlo is right next door. This place is more for romantics who like simple, beautiful things, a little "hobbit house" kind of dream. It's spotless, and the owners are genuinely courteous and helpful. And to the sensitive German reviewer, here's a note in your native language. Given the narrow perspective in that review, I can hardly expect you to speak foreign languages. There are thousands of places in wonderful locations in Nice, Cannes, or Monaco, with bathrooms large enough for all your friends, if you have any left. You can even find places without rusty garden furniture, though that furniture is only decorative, and there are other seats for relaxing in the garden. Maybe the safest area for you is between Flensburg and Lake Constance, especially the northern part of the lake. There, you'll be sure to be satisfied, along with anyone outside that impressive stretch of land. Also, you'd think someone with a doctorate would check whether a room meets their needs instead of relying only on an online review. As Johann Gottfried Seume put it, "Why not stay at home!?" We're quite happy to have a little less competition when booking this enchanting place!

We came with very different expectations after reading the positive reviews and felt completely misled. The property was neglected and strewn with junk. The terrace grass outside our rented room was knee-high and filthy, and the garden chairs were rusty and barely big enough for one person. Inside, the room smelled of mold and the furnishings didn't match. The shower and toilet were tiny, barely usable by one person at a time. The landlord would have needed days or even weeks to put things right, so we left immediately because the conditions were unacceptable. We urge Booking.com to check listed properties more professionally, since customers depend on their expertise. This experience has seriously affected our willingness to book through Booking.com again.
