Domaine et Golf de Vaugouard - La Maison Younan

The location was okay, but I regret booking here and would never come back. After eating the food, which tasted strange, I had bad stomach problems. At breakfast there was a lot of chaos, and it seemed like nobody was managing the staff or the service. The waiters also laughed behind my back when I asked for an empty ashtray. Expired food, disrespectful employees, bad food.

The staff were attentive and friendly, and we enjoyed the food and the pool. The rooms were lovely too. It was a very convenient stop on our European road trip.

We found this place online and spent a weekend there. The quiet setting among the forests and well-kept golf course was lovely, and our room had a small terrace looking over the restaurant and golf courses. The hotel is in an old castle building, allows pets, and has a very nice swimming pool. The staff were kind and pleasant. At checkout, though, we learned that bringing our dog cost an extra 25eu per day, which we thought was expensive. We’d never paid more than 10-15eu for a dog, even at the most luxurious and expensive hotels in Courchevel and St Tropez. That price felt excessive and made us think twice about returning. Apart from that, our weekend at Domaine de Vaugouard was a 5 star experience, and we’d recommend it to friends.

The bathroom didn’t even have a soap dish, so how is this place rated 4 stars? The rooms are dated, dirty, and stale, with water stains all over the carpet and even fingernail clippings left by previous guests. The restaurant doesn’t make up for it: the waitstaff throw food onto your table without asking how you want your steak cooked, and the food barely deserves a mention.
