The room is spacious, the bed is comfortable, and the location is very central. But it feels tired, and the little roof terrace attached to it is shabby, with peeling paint and half-dead plants. We only found it by chance because it isn’t obvious. At reception, maintenance noise made it hard to hear the receptionist, who wasn’t looking at us while she spoke. When I politely said pardon, she was abruptly rude. Nobody offered to help with our luggage. Parking costs an extra 20 euro a night and breakfast is 25 euro per person, which seemed too expensive, so we parked locally and skipped breakfast. I’m also unsure why this is called a spa hotel, since there are no spa facilities at all. We’re here in April, in the off season, but even so.

The village is nice, and the hotel is well placed for exploring more of the south. The outdoor areas are lovely, with plenty of places to lounge, though the pool didn’t look very clean. For a 4-star hotel, I expected better service and amenities. Our standard room was very small, with nowhere to put luggage and just one chair. The view was of the parking lot. I’d suggest upgrading if you stay here. Breakfast cost €23 and felt quite limited for the price.

The three-course dinner was excellent. We were with a Danish travel group and got a wonderful room, though reaching it meant climbing two stories and walking down a long hallway. The bathroom had a stunning view of the surrounding area, and there was a separate shower room behind the bedroom. The toilet itself had no sink for washing hands, so we had to go across the bedroom to the bathroom.

The few employees there were really tried hard and kept smiling, but there clearly weren’t enough of them at reception or in other services like breakfast and the kitchen. Nobody was available to carry our heavy suitcases up to our room on the 3rd level when we arrived, or back down when we left. And why is the restaurant closed? With enough employees, we’d give the hotel a top overall grade.

La Regalido was a lovely stay. The courtyard has peaceful seating, and the pool area was great. Service was wonderful, and dinner outdoors was fantastic. Our meal was out of this world, so fresh, and paired with local wine.
