Hotel Residence Palazzu

The restaurant food was really good, and we found the hotel a handy base for exploring the northwest coast. We stayed for two nights; the location was okay.

I picked this hotel because the listing said it had a gym. As a solo guest, I found the access rules made that nearly useless: the only time I was offered was 8:00-9:00 AM, with no other slot available. I was ready to pay extra, but was told the spa and gym require at least two paying guests. When I asked about coming later, the manager sighed and rolled their eyes, so I said never mind and left. I got in touch with Booking customer service to say that, for someone travelling alone, the fitness center was effectively unavailable and the listing felt misleading. The following day, another person, who I assume was the owner, loudly berated me by the pool in front of other guests for contacting Booking. They also shouted that they would pack my bags and move them to the cheaper room. I said they could go ahead, but it never happened. It was embarrassing. There is a gym on site, but the policy is access only for at least two paying guests, apart from that single morning hour. I was willing to pay for access, just not for two people. I usually don't post hotel reviews, but want other guests to know about the gym listing and how you might be treated if you complain. Read the other reviews carefully too, since outbursts like this don't seem especially uncommon. I’ve attached a photo of the hotel policy. I’m not making this up, despite the hotel's response to my Booking review calling me a liar. 🤷‍♂️

The rooms are modern and cosy, and the air conditioning is amazing. Staff and manager were really friendly, too. It's a very quiet, peaceful place, so if that's what you're after, this works well. It could use a little more lively energy at times, but for a stay of up to a week, it was perfect.

We stayed in a studio apartment and found the kitchenette and washing machine super useful. The hotel is cute and comfortable, with lovely sea views, and the pool area is nicely done with drinks served there. We'd definitely come back.
