Best Western Hotel Gap

I was very satisfied with what I got for the price. The base rate was €65, and with breakfast plus a small tax, I paid €75.80. Breakfast was just off the lobby, with a decent quality buffet and a pretty good selection. Check-out was quick and easy, and the cost felt like excellent value. The staff were friendlier and more down-to-earth than big-city hotel personnel, which gave the place a pleasant small-town, family-run feel. It was handy for my business appointment 30 minutes down the highway the next morning, and having a restaurant next door helped. The hotel is a little off the beaten path, but in a nice enough spot. Check-in was easy, and the woman at the desk was especially pleasant. I had a clean ground-floor room with plenty of space, an adequate bathroom, and a decent workspace. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet enough for a good night’s sleep.

I couldn’t wait to get out of there. The room was sweltering, and the only cooling option was a fan that just pushed the hot air around. There wasn’t a kettle or any tea or coffee in the room either. The staff were helpful as far as they could be, but it was a truly awful way to treat a customer. I’d have left right away if I could, but I was exhausted after a long journey.

We’re never staying there again. The drains in Room (001) smelled, and the lift noise through the wall kept both of us awake all night. Breakfast was just dry bread and warm coffee. Sheard on social media.

The hotel is good, and there’s a nice bar about 100m toward town. It’s a little far from the town center, and the attached restaurant, which you pay for separately, is okay. ALL Best Westerns could learn something from a visit to Scandinavian BWs.
