Hôtel Les Olivades

The dining was an excellent experience, and the place is beautiful and feels safe and secure for motorcyclists. The service was professional but still had a personal touch that similar establishments could learn from.

We ate at the excellent restaurant both nights. It has a casual, relaxed feel suited to the Haute Alpes, while the food is high quality. The menu changes a little from day to day, and the wine list is very good with reasonable prices. The restaurant staff were friendly and efficient, just like the helpful people throughout this well-maintained property. The location is in the hills outside the city center, but only about five minutes from the ancient city.

The chef deserves real credit. We had three delicious meals, and the food was absolutely lovely. The rooms are spacious, but ours was scruffy, and the terrace was covered in tree debris. The pool was nice but needed tidying, and the garden bar had no one serving guests. Equipment had been left out, with dozens of tables and chairs and stuff scattered everywhere. It was a mess. Most of the staff were pleasant young men, but no one seemed to be in charge, so things felt chaotic and we felt in the way. The dining room being in the basement and only reachable by lift was strange, though we ended up laughing about it. A room service tray left outside our room was still there the next day. The location was quiet and lovely, but not far from the beaten track. Please clean the place up and the carpets, and we’ll return.
