Hôtel Vignemale

After a four-day hike, we needed a place to rest for the night in Gavarnie. The hotel had caught my eye as we arrived, but its low ratings made us hesitate. We read some of the negative reviews and decided to go anyway, since most seemed to be about parking. I understand that people who don’t stay there may be unhappy about paying to park. The staff were very welcoming, and the view was magnificent. The rooms are a little dated, but clean and in very good condition. We slept perfectly and had breakfast with a beautiful view of the Circe de Gavarnie. If you’re nearby, give it a try.

The woman running the hotel was incredibly friendly and helpful, and we had a very pleasant chat with her. We spent a night there after hiking over the pass from Spain. The veranda and rooms look out over the cirque, and the hotel is perfectly situated for that dramatic view. I’d highly recommend staying here if you’re spending a night in Gavarnie.

We stayed here with family despite some negative reviews, and I’d rate it very highly. The hotel is clean, with fresh towels and very comfortable beds, and it offers some of the area’s most beautiful views. There’s also free drive-in parking, plus a nice restaurant and bar. The hostess was friendly, spoke excellent English, and made us feel comfortable throughout our stay. The staff made our trip really enjoyable. Thanks to the Hotel Vingmale team!

Our room looked straight out at the Cirque du Gavarnie, and the hotel’s location facing it is amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the place has a relaxed feel. Breakfast offered a good choice, and we could use the extra food for picnic lunches. The interior and rooms are clean and tidy, but very dated and basic. Luckily, the splendour of Gavarnie is the reason you’re there.
