Le Marboré

We were trying to find somewhere to eat in town during the off-season when the owner chased us off the driveway. He was incredibly rude, and it wasn’t just because we looked North American: he treated two older French women the same way. At least he had a nice moustache.

I slept like a baby here, and the food, breakfast included, was great. The staff were friendly too. The place has a character you wouldn’t expect, and it’s a memorable change from the usual cheap, modern-looking hotels that feel so soulless.

I got ill about a week before my August trip, so I contacted the hotel to ask for a refund. They said they don’t give refunds and offered to have me come in September instead. I’d booked the night in early July, but I can’t just drive to France whenever I like to stay at a particular hotel I’d planned for a different holiday.

It’s in a nice setting, but the people running it were mean and rude. They weren’t polite to my wife or me during our short stay. If you want guests to come, you should treat them well. They’re the reason you have a job. Sorry, but I won’t be back.
