Courtyard By Marriott Lyon Eurexpo Stadium

I was hesitant about staying outside the city center, but once I got the hang of transit and planned to spend the day away, this turned out to be a great choice. The place was spotless, breakfast was plentiful, and the staff were all pleasant. It could almost be classed as near luxury. The only drawback for me was that there wasn’t an in-house self-service laundry, or one nearby.

The quiet surroundings were the one thing to keep in mind, since there’s not much going on outside. Inside, though, the hotel was fantastic. The room design and layout looked sharp and sophisticated, and the whole place made me think Lyon can be better than Paris! Frédéric was the standout, polite and decent, and he took care of whatever I asked for. The app service was quick too, with reception replying right away. The team had everything ready before I even reached the lobby, including the room, the shuttle for that night, and some nice welcome gifts. And the bartender may have been a little shy about speaking English, but the Cuba Libre was so good I lost count after five or six. Seriously impressed, way better than expected. 10/10, would recommend.

The hotel is new, and the design and room amenities all felt fresh and comfortable. It’s a bit far from Vieux Lyon, though there’s a bus stop right in front. We rented an SUV and parked for free. There are lots of paid EV charging stations, but you need a prepaid RFID card to pay and charge your card. Breakfast costs $19 and is a standard hotel buffet, nothing surprising. The staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help. I appreciated that.

We liked the restaurant’s atmosphere, and sitting outside for meals or just enjoying plein aire was refreshing. The facility design made us want to stay and never leave. Marriott is our favorite brand, and this is an outstanding property. Service was great at check-in and breakfast. Breakfast even beats the American Marriott, with fresh bread, eggs you can boil yourself, and omelets cooked to order.
