Hotel Carcarille - Restaurant le C

The staff were lovely and helped us more than once with taxis and tips about the area. Gordes is about a 30-minute walk away and absolutely worth seeing, it’s beautiful. We had a great stay here!

Dinner was really good, and they offer a children’s meal that comes with dessert. I was also able to get a delicious vegetarian main. We came with our two young boys, aged 6 and 9, and had a great meal.

I was really looking forward to this stay after spending weeks looking at Gordes hotels and reading the reviews and seeing the photos. Then, at 6pm on check-in day, while I was having dinner in Gordes, they called to ask when I’d arrive. We’d just sat down after a long travel day, and I said around 8:30pm. They told me they were closing at 8 because the restaurant was shut that day, and couldn’t wait. They pushed me to come back earlier, which I refused. Eventually they agreed to leave the keys and instructions outside the property. The email said check-in was available until 10pm. If they were closing early because it was the off season, they should have told me weeks in advance, not called two hours beforehand. And what would have happened if they couldn’t reach me by phone? Would I have been left outside in the countryside? The Wi-Fi also never worked in my room, number 9. At checkout the next day, the interaction was unpleasant and unfriendly. They didn’t apologize for the mix-up or ask how the stay had been. I’m very disappointed and definitely won’t return.

The food was incredible and the room was great value. My only gripe was how far it is from Gordes town centre.
