A handy place to stop when crossing France: it’s right in the center of Gueret, though there’s no parking on site. The room was practical with a bit of design flair, and had air conditioning, TV and Wi-Fi. Mine had a roomy, clean terrace, and the bathroom was very clean too. The staff were friendly and helpful. There’s even a pool to unwind by. I’m not sure about the Buddha figures dotted around it, but that’s France for you.

The hotel looked run down, and the pictures didn’t match what we saw when we arrived. It was advertised as having secure parking, but all there was was street parking.
