Hôtel du Baou

The reception staff were really nice, but the hotel itself was horrible and nothing like the photos. It's very far away, the shower leaked, and the rooms were noisy. A door separates the rooms, and nobody tells guests to keep quiet after 10 pm or before 7 am. The listing promised a balcony, terrace, and lots of lovely things. What we got was a balcony facing a wall. We stayed one night, and that was enough.

The receptionist was really pleasant, and we were comfortable enough, but the hotel is a long way from the town center. Our ground-floor bedroom was right by the entrance, where other guests were allowed to talk until midnight. It also smelled a little like cigarettes, and some things weren't working properly, including the lights. The air conditioning was very noisy.

The air conditioning was nice, and the bed was clean. The room itself, though, had cockroaches, a very dirty bath, and lots of mold on the walls and ceiling. The people who greeted us were very nice. It was still a 30-minute drive to Nice, and the bus didn't run after 8 pm.

We stayed for eight nights and felt it was good value, especially if you want to pay less than the average Nice prices. The staff were very nice and helpful, and we were generally satisfied for the price. The hotel sits on a hill, about 15 minutes by car from the beach. The road up is narrow and winding, so drive carefully. There was construction next door, making it hard to sleep after 7:30 on weekdays. Breakfast was average, and some of the coffee mugs were stained.
