We only stopped for dinner, not the night. The fish and vegetable starter in the photo was lovely, and the menu had a decent range, though vegetarian options were limited. The staff were friendly and the surroundings beautiful. It was all French diners apart from us, which felt like a nice change in this touristy part of Normandy. Book ahead by phone, even outside peak season there wasn't a free table.

The Auberge has been restored with real care, and parking and the other practical details were well handled. Inside, the bright dining room has a wall of glass looking across the countryside, with good tables and comfortable seating. Lunch service was attentive and quick when needed, then discreet, and the young staff came across as both friendly and professional. I arrived early, was welcomed, and was invited to look around. They seemed genuinely connected to the area and proud of their work. The Table d'Hote Menu was very good value. The Boeuf Bourguignon was savory, a generous portion but pleasantly light, and the Profiteroles were among the best I've had after eating at around a dozen French restaurants in recent weeks. They were generous too. I only wish I'd had time for a third course. I have a first-class catering degree and previously managed a four-star London hotel, so I hope I can judge the effort involved. The restaurant opened right on time. I'll be back in a few weeks and would happily recommend the place.

The waiter was lovely, and the restaurant itself felt really distinctive. We had a brilliant time and will definitely return.
