RUUUNN!! We waited about 2h30m for a simple meal. The place smelled like a nursing home, and the chicken tasted like it had just been boiled in water. If you’re hungry, you’ll die of boredom first. Terrible place.

The food was a huge letdown. My beef carpaccio looked partly frozen, with ice crystals on some pieces, tasted average at best, and came with sad shreds of iceberg lettuce. I’d give it 3/10. The filet of beef was cooked medium-rare as requested, but the vegetables seemed microwaved; without the steak, it would have been 1/10, and with it, 4/10. My mousse was ordinary, maybe a 6/10. My partner found a dead fly in her dessert taco. We were horrified. I told the server, who only offered to comp that dessert, not her whole meal, and seemed barely bothered. Disgusting and concerning. We had booked a romantic dinner for July 4th at 7 p.m. and arrived on time, but the hotel lobby lights were off and nobody was there to help. We wandered for about five minutes calling hello before someone appeared at the front desk. When we said we had a restaurant reservation, he silently pointed ahead. I asked where to go, and he sighed, stepped between my partner and me, and pointed again. We thanked him, but he said nothing and went back to the desk. The direction hadn’t been clear at first. The restaurant smelled like a nursing home when we arrived. Not a dealbreaker by itself, but not a good start. After we stood awkwardly for a couple of minutes, a server came over and said “Reservation?” in a monotone. I gave my name, and he silently pointed us to a table. That kind of interaction continued all evening, as if we were being visited by the ghost of Christmas future. I ordered a Coke and my partner a Riesling. Mine came warm and without ice. Nobody offered water or asked what kind of Riesling she wanted. Bread arrived without oil or butter, before we’d even ordered food. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless they’ve lost their sense of taste and feel nostalgic for nursing home smells and flavors. I’d rate it 1/10, and I’ll make sure anyone I know visiting the area avoids this sad excuse for a restaurant.

We found this place on the way back from a long drive from Italy to the UK, and the value for money was hard to believe. The rooms were lovely, clean, cozy, and comfortable, with beautiful surroundings. We also had one of the best meals of our trip. The staff were really friendly, and our waiters in particular were brilliant. We’d love to come back.

We stopped for coffee while cycling from the UK to Italy. What a lovely place, with elegant splendour in a delightful town. The service and coffee were both very good. We must come back by car soon and stay a few days.

A real gem in Northern Alsace, with cozy rooms and friendly staff, starting with the owner, Philippe Velten. The food, wines, and service were excellent, and the prices were reasonable.
