Auberge d'Imsthal

The location is wonderful, and La Petite Pierre village nearby is worth a visit. The Auberge itself feels a bit worn, though, with a broken toilet seat and no curtains in the room. We came with a toddler and didn’t feel welcome because the staff weren’t very friendly. We skipped both dinner and breakfast there because of the atmosphere.

The terrace and peaceful setting are lovely, and the food was good, though priced like Paris. We visited twice and had an uncomfortable experience with a different staff member each time. When I asked for a table off to the side so my toddler wouldn’t be surrounded by cigarette smoke and could move around without bothering anyone, the waiter was very rude. He said the table was too far from the entrance to bring food, and made me feel unwelcome for asking. I wouldn’t go back. It wasn’t worth it.

Big rooms and a nice atmosphere, with friendly staff and good food at the Restaurant. My only personal gripe is that the regular room doesn’t have a shower, though there is one in the jacuzzi room. And yes, the jacuzzi room also has a lovely panoramic view. All in all, a five-star stay.

Dinner was a highlight. We’d prepaid for the three-course meal and breakfast, and although we couldn’t choose the dinner dishes, everything was delicious. The restaurant owner speaks fluent French and German, but not much English. Even with the language barrier, he was very friendly and suggested some great wines. Breakfast came in a basket each morning, with bread, sweet and savory items, pastries, fruit and yoghurt, since there was no buffet because of COVID. The room was basic but very clean. We had a bathtub and a handheld shower with no wall mount. I thought that might be awkward, but got used to it quickly. A lovely hotel, I’d recommend staying here.
