At the Tourist Office you can book and get tickets for a visit to the Gentrey Mill. Plan for about 2 hours and €5, with an optional half hour snack break for €5 including a drink. The tour is full of discoveries about how the mill worked and how potato starch was made. Our volunteer guide was passionate and clearly knew the place well, where his father had once worked. It’s an unusual spot and well worth seeing.

We had such a fantastic afternoon at the starch factory. The volunteer leading the tour was passionate about what he does, and listening to him was really engaging. We also had a delicious afternoon snack. I loved it, and highly recommend a visit.

The owners are really friendly, which adds a lot to the place. It’s a lovely historic spot in the countryside, with a river nearby, and a great place to relax for a weekend or go to a party. The owners organize concerts, game nights, and other events, so there’s plenty of life here. Highly recommend!

The tour was fascinating, and the guide knew the starch factory inside out. He told its history with anecdotes and showed how much he knows about the site. The setting is magical and bucolic, with the Vosges’ industrial past all around. We had refreshments after the tour. Highly recommend.

We came for a wonderful visit to the last starch factory still standing in the Vosges, led by a passionate expert. We didn’t stay in a gîte.
