The staff were kind and helpful, and I found the bed comfortable. Still, the room felt dated, with worn carpets and hair on the bathroom walls and ceiling. It may be listed as a three-star hotel, but to me it felt closer to two. If you can live with a bit of roughness around the edges, it’s a pleasant enough place.

The town has plenty of interest, and the hotel was good while I was walking the GR34. The crêperie was OK too. In the off season, though, I wish there had been more options for dinner in the evening.

We felt completely at home here. The staff were witty and excellent, the room was comfortable, and both the crêperie and restaurant were great.

At L'ancieux, you can forget everything for a while. It’s a really pleasant hotel, just a stone’s throw from the beach and shops. Bravo!
