Hôtel de la Digue

We arrived around 1 p.m. on Sunday after visiting the castle, and there was only one waiter covering the whole dining room and one cook in the kitchen. Ordering, getting drinks, and even the appetizer took ages. By 3 p.m. our main course still hadn't come, and we had to leave to catch our tour bus. They wouldn't pack it to go, so we cancelled the order and left hungry. The potted fish was cold and gross. I don't recommend it.

There's plenty to look around in the "Village," and lots of places to eat. The hotel is very close to Mont Saint-Michel, with the free shuttle to the Monastery stopping just outside. Getting into the hotel could be explained better, though. A lot of people couldn't get through the gates on their first try.

For four people, €104 was a great deal. Just call the hotel before you arrive to get the entry gate code if you'll be coming after 9 p.m.; check-in is at the other hotel across the way. There are no air vents anywhere in the unit, including the bathroom, and no AC. You pretty much get what you pay for.

The view of Mont St Michel is the best part, but the food was the worst of all the places down there. My mussel sauce was gross, and nothing we ate was good. Two other tables complained about their dishes too. The tables were filthy, which wasn't surprising after I saw waitresses climb on them with their shoes to fold the umbrellas. I can't speak for the hotel, but if it's like the restaurant, don't go.
