Hôtel Le Regina

The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and pleasant, with everything I needed. The bathroom was excellent, though the lighting was inadequate. The hotel is right in the middle of town, close to the railway station, which is a great location. My Saturday evening check-in was a poor start: reception was empty at first, and when someone eventually arrived, he gave me a key and pointed out the lift, but didn't explain anything about the room or hotel services, or even say when breakfast was. Later front desk staff were more helpful and seemed better trained, but there was no printed information with restaurant, shopping, or sightseeing suggestions. Some breakfast staff also seemed under-trained. Staff should have shown me how to use the heating and air-conditioning controls and the electronic housekeeping indicator. The indicator is a great idea once you find it. The fitness room was pleasant but fairly small, with the usual basic equipment. It seemed to have been selected by someone with little knowledge of the subject. Some weights were provided, but none under 6 kg.

The staff were understanding and very helpful, even serving us breakfast after the official time had passed. We slept so soundly in the comfortable bed that we missed breakfast at first. The room had clearly been remodeled recently to a high standard, and felt modern while keeping the charm of the building's history. In a beautiful town with a wonderful location, it was the best night's sleep I'd had in months. Highly recommended.

The room was very quiet despite being downtown, and I liked the decor and the song-themed room names. The bathroom was lovely, with a nice warm towel. It's easy to walk almost anywhere in Le Puy from here. Service was good, though not great, and I had a small problem when booking a restaurant. I'd stay again.

The staff at Regina were very welcoming, and we enjoyed our short stay. The guest rooms have been tastefully redecorated, and the rain shower was wonderful. We also had a lovely dinner of cèpes pasta and wine at the cozy restaurant. The hotel is just steps from the medieval town, and a short walk from the famed Notre Dame de France shrine, with a great view from the top, and the historic cathédrale du Puy. It's worth wandering through the old town, “vieux Le Puy,” to see its 15th-century houses.
