Appart'City Confort Lille Grand Palais

We’ve come back for a second stay, and the kitchen setup is handy for a family: there’s a microwave, fridge, hob, kettle and coffee maker. The living area still feels roomy even with the sofa bed open, and we found it good value. The centre of Lille and Eurolille are about a 20 minute walk away, with Grand Palais around 10 minutes on foot. We skipped the hotel breakfast, though complimentary pastries appeared at reception in the middle of the morning, a nice touch. Food is available, and pizzas looked popular, but we didn't try any. The room was clean, although its carpet was stained. Housekeeping is available on request using the door hanger, as part of the hotel's environmental policy. Parking under the hotel is about €15 a night, and street parking is another option.

We found it good value for what we paid, even though the building is old and only partly renovated, so expectations should be kept modest. It was hosting the Leclerc cycling team during the Tour de France while we were there. The room was simple but had what we needed for a short visit. With three of us, having a bedroom separate from the living room was useful, and the little kitchen helped too. There are indoor and outdoor seating spots to spend some time. It's in a quiet area, a bit of a walk from the city centre but still reachable on foot. Parking costs extra.

The room itself was a letdown. The floor was dirty, the shower drain clogged, and the bed was rock hard. We noticed it had been flipped over because the top was stained. With no air conditioning, we had to leave the windows open, and the nearby freeway noise got annoying. Smoke from someone in another room also made our room stink. The front desk staff were nice, and the shared main area was kept clean.

The staff were kind and friendly, and I thought the stay was good value. I was there for three nights, and the room had the basics for a comfortable visit: a comfortable bed, clean towels, a kitchenette with an induction hob, and a TV. It was quiet, with no noise from other guests or cars, which helped me sleep. The centre is about a 25 minute walk away, and the route felt safe. There are bike docking stations nearby too, a good way to get into town or around the area.
