Best Western Beausejour

Dear Mme. Claudia, Your reply was courteous, but it felt like a form letter, and I’d hoped for something more. My issue wasn’t one occasional lapse in service. It was a pattern of neglect: amenities unavailable, nobody attending the front desk, and little accountability. This fell far short of the standards that once made Best Western a trusted name. I’m not looking for more correspondence or compensation. I wanted to explain why I, and probably others reading my reviews, will choose somewhere else in the future. The location was the best part for me. The hotel is right across from the train station, and the Sanctuary is only a 15 minute walk away. I was grateful we booked here after seeing people haul their suitcases farther into the hilly town. We could leave our bags before check-in and after checkout until it was time for our train. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and updated. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch at the restaurant, and it was handy to have breakfast on site, with a buffet and a barista making different coffees. There’s also a nice pool and seating area behind the hotel, with a great view of town. The desk staff worked hard, covering reception as well as helping in the restaurant, and they were very nice to us. I’d highly recommend this hotel for a Lourdes visit.

We spent four nights here on our first trip to Lourdes, visiting the Sanctuary and natural sights like the cirque de gavarnie. The family suite was newly renovated, very clean, and gave us the extra space to relax, so it was worth the money. Stronger water pressure would have improved it. It’s a three star hotel that punches above its rating. The location is ideal for public transport if you don’t drive. The breakfast buffet was OK.

Cleanliness was the best thing about this hotel. The breakfast was very good, and the small swimming pool was clean and refreshing. Parking at the back is a definite plus. Staff were a mixed bag: the restaurant team were polite, while the receptionists were rude. Don’t book the cheapest room, called Comfort Room, facing the street if you want to sleep. The constant traffic felt like cars were passing right beside the bed. The room is so small there’s barely space to open a suitcase, and don’t expect an upgrade even if the hotel is half empty.
