Chalet Saint Louis

The receptionist was extremely kind and helpful, and the rooms were clean. The shower cubicle was so tight there was barely space to move, though, and there was hot water. For one of the area's cheapest hotels, you get what you pay for. The worst issue was the room attendant repeatedly trying to enter without giving us any privacy. Just after check-in, someone tried the door, and on both mornings they tried to come in without even giving us ten seconds to reach it. The website lists checkout at 10:30, yet they attempted to enter around 10 while we were still in bed. It felt rude and unprofessional.

The hotel is affordable, secure, and very close to both the train station and the grotto. Staff were friendly, and the croissant was delicious. I also liked the spread that looked and tasted a lot like Nutella. Our room and the hallways were very clean, as were the sheets and towels, though the towels need replacing. The beds are on the firm side, and the shower space is small. Breakfast could use improvement: they forgot I had paid for two meals, and it wasn't buffet style. Overall, I'd recommend the hotel.

We only stayed for one night, and it was a very pleasant visit. The room was clean, the decor had its own style, and the staff were friendly. We arrived after closing time, but they'd provided a door code so we could get into the room. A staff member was still there to welcome us and go over the basics.

The owner was kind, and we could leave our luggage at reception when we reached Lourdes at 8 in the morning. We went around the city before checking in at 11. On the way back, we checked out at 11, explored until 7 pm, then caught our train. It's a budget bed and breakfast between the train station and the Lourdes church. The rooms are small, but that's fine if you're out all day and mainly need a place to sleep. Breakfast was €3 per person and a moderate amount.
