Residence Le Soleil

We spent three nights at Soleil and really enjoyed it. It's a fairly new building with what you need to live there for a couple of days. The internet worked well without any issues, and we had a good set of kitchen utensils and a decent-sized fridge. The receptionists were good and spoke good English. I'd recommend it, especially to families with children.

The hotel felt safe to me, and we were two women with no complaints. Our room was clean, with modern facilities and what we needed. It got plenty of daylight, while the thick blinds kept it dark at night. The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet, a comfortable walk from the grotto, neither too close nor too far. The internet connected quickly and had good speed.

This is a basic aparthotel, about a 10-15 minute walk from the church. It's tucked in a lane near the river, so not much breeze comes into the room. We kept the windows open because the air conditioning wasn't working and the room was quite warm. The hotel did sort the problem out for us, which was good.

The staff at reception were always helpful, and spoke English so I didn't have to rely on my broken French. There's free parking, and the hotel sits just beyond the main hotel and shop area, so noise wasn't an issue. The room is basic but was clean, and the kitchenette, especially the fridge, helped a lot. It has air conditioning and electronic shutters for controlling the temperature. Wi-Fi struggled sometimes, probably because our corner room was as far as possible from the router. Breakfast is offered, but I picked up supplies from the local shops instead. I've visited Lourdes 16 times as a volunteer, but this time I brought my young family. For us, the hotel was a great base for exploring the town and the Pyrenees. Unless you pay for one of the few four- or five-star hotels in Lourdes, this is the sort of room to expect. The centre is an easy, flat five-minute walk for someone able-bodied, or 10-15 minutes if you need longer. My three-year-old daughter and one-year-old son slept soundly every night. I highly recommend it and hope to come back.
