Hôtel Louvre & Vincenette

The room was in bad shape: ceiling tiles were coming loose, the lamps were hanging off the walls, and the curtain rail fell down when I tried to draw the curtain in the morning. It was also advertised as carpeted, but there was no carpet. The room seemed to have been made by splitting a larger one with a thin wall, so I could hear everything next door, including the other guest's TV. What a joke. Parking was another serious problem. The hotel was listed as having parking, while its description said public parking nearby cost 7 Euros a day. In reality, I had to use Parking Quai St Jean, 300 meters away and downhill from the hotel, which meant hauling my luggage uphill for 300 meters. It cost 40 Euros a day, not 7, a big added expense for a longer stay. When I raised the difference with the receptionist, he got angry, argued with me, and refused to accept any fault or apologize for the misleading listing. He kept saying the hotel had no parking and that public parking nearby was 7 Euros a day, even though the car park he meant was where my car was already parked. Other French guests with better English joined in to help explain the issue, but it got nowhere.

This was my first stay, and I’ll definitely come back. The welcome was so friendly, the staff were fantastic, and the meals were delicious and generous. It’s clear that many guests return again and again. The hotel is close to the cave, and the value for money is excellent. I’d highly recommend it!

The owners were so kind, and we felt warmly welcomed during our family break from May 7 to 9, 2025, right in the middle of the conclave. We chose half-board, and both the dinner, which felt like good home cooking, and breakfast were very good. The rooms were simple and clean. The hotel is right in the center, about 500 meters from the park with the main attractions. If we get the chance, we’ll definitely return. Thanks again for the kindness and warm welcome.
