Hotel St-Etienne

For a sanctuary visit, the location is perfect, about a five-minute walk, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. It’s a basic but clean hotel, and the bathrooms were very clean too. Don’t expect amenities.

We came as a group of 32 and had a great week. The hotel is just steps from the Sanctuary, and the staff put their heart and soul into their work. They were very flexible with our group’s needs, considered every option with us, and no request seemed too much. The rooms were clean, with fresh towels and bedding each day, and breakfast was good. Thank you to the hotel for all the effort you made to help us enjoy our stay.

The helpful, friendly staff were attentive, and I enjoyed the food. There’s no menu or choice of meals, which might not suit some guests, though my partner and I had no complaints about anything served. The dining room could use an update to feel warmer and cosier. Downstairs there’s a nice little bar and lounge. The hotel is charming and clean, with original details like a beautiful solid wood staircase. It sits beside the Sanctuary in Lourdes, in the quieter of the two main hotel areas. I’d recommend it and would happily return.

The rooms are very big, and you can’t really hear the neighbours. There’s a large gap under the front door, though. The staff, especially Fred and cândida, were very helpful. Some people say it smells of mold, but if you open a window, the smell can go away. Breakfast could be a bit better, but overall it’s good.
