The rooms felt hot and stuffy, and the basic ones are very tiny. Since we were on a budget holiday, we stuck with ours, but I’d spend a little more for a larger room if you can. I also thought the extra charge to include breakfast was too high for what was provided. The staff were kind and helpful, and the location is ideal for exploring Lyon.

Breakfast was a lovely start to the day, with plenty of variety and especially fun boil-your-own eggs. The small dining room on the first floor has windows facing the street. Laurent, the owner, and the whole staff were attentive, friendly and helpful without getting in your way. We stayed in La Bouillote on the top, sixth floor, and it suited us perfectly. Each room has its own name and layout. Just note that the lift only goes to the fifth floor, so you’ll need to walk up one level for this room. The hotel is right in a beautiful central part of old Lyon.

The room was comfortable, and the staff were absolutely great. Being right in old Lyon made it easy to explore on foot. After checking out, we left our luggage at the hotel and walked around the city, did a food tour, and saw the Roman Theatre ruins.

We had a really pleasant three-night stay. The hotel is very central, and from the Bellecour metro stop it was easy to get around the whole city. The staff were incredibly friendly and were fine with our small dog staying in the room with us.

The location was good, but the room was tiny and very noisy. There was a sound all night, like water moving through pipes, or maybe the ventilation. The AC was off, and I still couldn’t sleep well.
