Hotel Vaubecour

The rooms have high ceilings that make them feel spacious, and they’re quiet and well insulated. They’re clean, with renovated, well-designed bathrooms. There’s no air conditioning, but you can open the windows for fresh air. Breakfast at the hotel is convenient, filling, and delicious. The hotel is in a great central spot, close to the metro, old town, bellecoeur, and terrace. It’s a wonderful place for a stay of several nights in Lyon. Management were attentive, helpful, and cheerful every time we met them, and the service team were friendly and hardworking. I’d definitely come back.

The staff were so helpful, and staying there felt like being at home. Loved it, and I’m definitely coming back.

The rooms are beautiful, but I regret staying here. Breakfast was awful: just a small plate of yogurt and dairy, with no ham, buffet, or options for people with allergies. There wasn’t even a mini fridge in the room, so I couldn’t keep drinks or food cold. I lost the food I’d bought for family in France. The next day, the hotel couldn’t offer even short-term luggage storage because the staff wanted to go on holiday themselves. I had to find storage at the train station, which was hard to locate.

It’s a short walk to the old town, around 10-15 minutes, and the Wi-Fi was great for working remotely. The staff were cheerful and helpful, and the location is just great. The rooms aren’t very big, but they have two windows that help block outside noise, and the area is usually quiet anyway. The bathroom and toilet were spotless and new. I loved the hotel’s atmosphere, which reminded me of French ne-classical buildings.
