Résidence Montempo Lyon Cité Internationale

We booked parking at the hotel and arrived around 10 pm. They directed us to a paid underground garage, where we could either pay €10 per day or leave a refundable €20 deposit for a badge that allowed multiple exits. They said we could decide overnight and pay when we left. But the next day, reception told us the hotel had apparently sold out of the €10 parking and hadn't reserved any for us. The regular rate was €43 a day, about half the room price. Either the staff were incompetent or this was a scam.

I was really disappointed to learn from staff that the room didn't include shampoo, body soap, or a toothbrush. The booking platform's information was wrong, while the hotel's own website said toiletries were provided. That left us scrambling to find what we needed, and made me question whether the hotel's ratings were deserved. The room was dusty, with clumps in several spots. A faulty lamp and broken clothes hangers were smaller issues on top of all that.

A convenient place for a longer stay, with plenty of restaurants downstairs. The building and rooms are modern and spacious, and the room was bright, airy, quiet, and clean, with comfortable beds. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The location is the only good part. It was over 30 degrees outside, and the AC didn't work. They sent a technician, who confirmed the problem, but they couldn't fix it. The toilet wouldn't flush either, and that couldn't be repaired. Our key card failed in the elevator, leaving us stuck, and the replacement card did the same. If an adventurous stay in a prime location sounds appealing, this is the place.
