Séjours & Affaires Lyon Saint-Nicolas

The location is decent, with big shops and tasty bakeries nearby, and a large shopping mall about a 10-minute walk away. The road and railway tracks right below the windows are the downside. The room looks okay, if a little run-down, but I woke up covered in a huge number of terribly itchy bites. The main problem is bedbugs. Service was awful, probably the worst I’ve ever had. Reception is only open briefly, weekdays from 9 AM to 7 PM. Cleaning isn’t weekly, and when they do come, they just leave fresh towels and bed linens. Nothing else gets done.

The communal areas feel tired, but our room was clean, the bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The reception team were very friendly and helpful. It’s very close to the train station, although from outside you wouldn’t think the place was open.

The place was clean, safe and spacious, but I’d asked for a room away from the train tracks and wasn’t given one, even though it was low season and there weren’t many people. Others were right about the rooms by the elevator being extremely noisy. Oddly, they supplied a coffee maker with no coffee. You also have to return the hairdryer every day.

For our six nights, it was good value. There’s no air con, but the fan was good. The separate little kitchenette area got very hot. Parking at 8€ per night seemed like a good deal since most nearby parking is paid during the day, and the car park itself was nice and cool.
