Le Blue

We enjoyed our stay at this charming old hotel on Presqu'Île. The bathroom was clean, a good size, and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was a decent French breakfast. The room was nicely furnished, but there was practically no daylight: no window, just a glass door onto a tiny, dark courtyard on the first floor. There was also some noise from the gas and electricity cabin and pipes in the yard. The pillows were far too thick and inflexible, so it was hard to get comfortable. And a very nice dog still shouldn’t be allowed to roam around the breakfast area and pee on the carpet if it isn’t house-trained yet.

Leaving our luggage at the hotel after checkout was really convenient since our train out of Lyon wasn’t until the evening. The staff greeted us warmly and were especially kind and helpful when we tried to change a train reservation. We had a great stay.

The location was great, but the service was horrible. If you don’t speak French, go somewhere else. The receptionist didn’t speak any English and was rude when making us pay for breakfast, even though we’d said at check-in that we didn’t want it. I’ve had better stays in a hostel. The room left a lot to be desired too: no door on the shower bathroom, napkins used for toilet paper, no real amenities, and you could hear everything from neighboring rooms. They put effort into the cool knickknacks and furniture, but the place lacks substance.

The location worked really well, about five minutes from the old town and five from the shopping district. Staff were very friendly, and the rooms were a good size, cleaned daily with fresh towels. It was good value, and the stay went beyond what I expected.
