Villa Maia

Francois at the concierge desk gave us several ideas for sights and shops, and the front desk team were among the most helpful we’ve encountered. We couldn’t get early check-in after staying several nights in mid October at Villa Maia, but they stored our luggage and let us freshen up after the trip. Our interior room was spacious and quiet. My wife likes making her own tea in the morning, so the hotel brought a kettle and cups to our room. Breakfast was included. There wasn’t as much choice as at many hotel buffets, but the quality was high, especially the pastries and fruit. Villa Maia is high on fourviere hill. The St. Just Funnicular station, much closer to the hotel, was under repair during our visit. The Fourviere funicular was running, but it took a hike to get to public transit, so we relied on lots of Ubers/Taxis to travel between the hotel and town. The Roman ruins and Lugdunum museum, which I highly recommend, were only a 5 to 10 min walk away. There are also plenty of great restaurants just below the hotel in Vieux Lyon.

They made our Lyon trip easy, helping with restaurant bookings, packing the car, arranging spa appointments smoothly, and answering all our questions. The service was very dedicated, and the hotel beautifully appointed. A wonderful stay.

Villa Maia was a comfortable, lovely place to stay, with a concierge team that really took care of things. When we arrived, Julien welcomed us and shared personal recommendations. He arranged dinner reservations, car transfers, and visits to local sites. Across the way, Tetedoie restaurant, with its bistrot and rooftop, has a remarkable view over the city. The staff are experienced, hospitable, and speak English well. I highly recommend the hotel.

Francois and Julien were the best concierges I’ve ever met. The service from all the staff was beyond what I expected, especially theirs. Our room was clean and comfortable, with an excellent view. I’ll stay at Villa Maia again when I return to Lyon, just for that concierge team.
