We got a surprise upgrade to a prestige suite at check-in, and the massive room was a treat. I only wish it had a safe. We enjoyed breakfast too. The Alex Hotel was in a perfect spot for getting around the city, and we loved staying there last week.

The welcome at the desk was super nice. The room was quiet and comfortable, with all the services we needed. It’s very central, right in front of the train station, with direct access to the airport. I’d recommend it.

We had a memorable stay. The hotel has a beautiful look and a charming courtyard, and breakfast was excellent. Reception staff were extremely pleasant and gave us a wonderful room.

We ended up checking out and booking another hotel, even though we lost our money. Our room was non-refundable, and there was no way to get a refund despite its poor condition. The rooms were so unclean that we wanted to leave as soon as we walked in. The receptionist kindly showed us other rooms, including one with a higher standard, but they weren’t much better. I chose this hotel because of its positive reviews, and that was a big mistake. The location next to the station is convenient, but I can’t say anything else positive about it.

The lobby staff were a great help with anything we needed, and breakfast was a nice assortment for the extra cost. It was empty one morning, then crammed full the next. We stayed in room 810, which was clean and very comfortable, with everything you’d expect from a solid hotel. It’s right by the train station and about a 20 minute walk from Old Port, with plenty of food and shops along the way. It’s a little pricey, but I’d consider staying here again if I return to Marseilles.
