Hôtel LIFE Marseille VP Vieux-Port

The room has a beautiful harbour view, and the location is great. The decor is modern throughout. Be aware that reception is on the second floor, with no lift from the ground floor. There's no kettle or coffee machine in the room, and the common area has some sort of waste water smell.

Nadia, the manager, speaks excellent English and was so kind. She gave us helpful advice for exploring the city and even treated us to lovely little things that made us feel at home. The room was neat and very clean, and the price was excellent for such a prime spot. The location is amazing, handy for all the city's attractions and just a minute from the metro.

Room 107 was right beside the eating area, and nobody mentioned that when I checked in very late at night. I found out when they were prepping until 1am, then the footsteps started at 5am. I can only guess this isn't a room people often book, because an employee let himself in with an access card. At checkout, staff also sprang a breakfast charge on me, though no one had said breakfast cost extra. So, four hours of sleep, someone walking into my private room, and a last-minute 28 euro bill. I only write reviews after a particularly bad experience, and this left a bad taste of Marseille in my mouth.

The room was tiny and had no view, though the location was perfect and central. I wasn't told about the city tax at check-in. It's a small amount, but a heads-up would've been better. No major complaints.
