Huttopia Gorges du Tarn

We only had one night here, sadly, but it was one of the best stops on our three-week trip, with plenty of competition. Our pitch was beside the river, with access to the Tarn for a swim or just a look at the clear water. There’s also a pool and entertainment in high season. The staff were so friendly, and they arrange bread delivery and trips. The site manager clearly takes pride in the place, and was lovely when I picked up our bread in the morning. It’s a beautiful campsite in what I think is the most beautiful place in the world.

Pitch 1 ended up being ours, right at the far end of the site. It took a bit of a walk to reach the facilities, though we liked being away from the busier spots. Some pitches looked pretty close together, which is just a matter of preference, as I like a bit of space. By the river, there are also lots of insects, as you’d expect in a rural setting, so bring repellent for yourself and the tent. We booked a riverside pitch on our first Huttopia stay, and the views were worth it throughout the day and evening. The site was well kept, with facilities cleaned regularly, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. There were lots of activities available, plus plenty to explore around Gorges du Tarn. We rented paddle boards a few times and took a canoe trip with Canoe 2000, which we’d highly recommend. We had a really great time and will look at other Huttopia sites now.

We were surprised by how much was already provided in our family tent. It had a fridge, camping gas, cookware, cutlery, storage, a comfortable bed, lighting and extension leads for charging devices. For the price, that was fair, and having what we needed there gave us more time and peace of mind for our sports activities. We came to Gorge du Tarn mainly for sports climbing, and Huttopia was perfectly placed close to all the crags. We’d definitely recommend it.
