The castle is old, and there was surprisingly little to see inside. The room doors were a problem too: the metal bathroom and toilet locks were difficult to close and made a loud clank, and a large gap remained after shutting the toilet door. Breakfast was just average. The wine tour and tasting were good, but at 400 euros for a Classic Room in September 2025, it didn't feel worth the price.

After a long drive, we treated ourselves to a stay here and were glad we did. The staff were so welcoming and ready to help, and our upgraded room was incredible, with robes and slippers included. We tried the Sunday night menu since the full gastronomic menu wasn't available that day, and it was still amazing. The on-site wine tasting was lovely too. Their Malbec was delicious, so we took a couple of bottles with us. We only stayed one night and wished we'd booked longer.

We went to Le Château de Mercues for lunch in the rain and fog, and the meal was still a highlight. Sitting in the elegant dining room with the misty Lot Valley outside made for a memorable setting. The food was delicious, and the service was warm, professional, and flawless. We also got an unexpected look inside the chapel and kitchen. We met the sous-chefs and watched the brigade prepare for that evening's gastronomic dinner, moving together like a well-timed dance. A lovely surprise. Another memorable Relais & Châteaux visit, and I'm already looking forward to the next one.
