Château de Picheny

We were greeted with a glass of champagne, and the warmth of the welcome set the tone for our four days. The service was just perfect, with such incredible attention to detail. This is one of the most beautiful, extraordinary hotels we’ve stayed in, maybe the best.

The friendly atmosphere made us feel right at home, and the breakfasts and dinners were delicious, made with products from local farmers. Vincent and Eric’s personal welcome, including champagne and personalized cards, made the stay feel special. Hearing how they found and rebuilt Château de Picheny to make their dream come true was lovely. It’s one of the most magnificent places I’ve ever visited, and I’ll always remember their warmth and hospitality.

Even in the extreme heat, the old castle stayed cool and comfortable. Walking inside felt like being embraced by its history and by Vincent and Eric’s vision for hospitality. The three-course dinner on our first night was a delight, and the love behind it showed in the food, cutlery, and different tablecloths on each of the three tables. I missed some of the details myself, but my wife noticed them. Their bookshelf, with books on vintage cars, cooking, and champagne, says a lot about their interests and care for guests. I even got to buy three bottles of champagne from Marguet before we left. We arrived with the heat beating down, and I was so confused that it took me 20 turns to park the car. My wife and two kids watched with Vincent, who stayed patient and friendly the whole time. Once I’d parked, he invited us in and showed us the amazing castle he and Eric have made their own. You can relax in the place they’ve created, and the attention to detail is everywhere, from the tapestry to noticing that our kid liked milk and making sure there was more on the table. Whenever you ask for something, they have a solution or suggestion. Vincent and Eric welcomed us into their dream, and it really is an amazing place. If you can book a stay with them, I can’t imagine a better place or pair to help you discover the culinary and cultural side of what makes the champagne region unique. Thank you, Eric and Vincent.
